Gothic Valentine

It's that time of year again, when that winged beast comes calling. Piercing our hearts with his sharp little arrows.

Love makes us both strong and weak at the same time. To love is human, and we all fall for it at some point. In the same regard if we didn't allow ourself to love anyone, we would never get hurt.

Only the ones you love, can hurt you. It feels so good, but hurts so damn much also. Truely a double edged sword. Remember, everyone will eventually hurt you, it's up to you to decide who is worth the pain.

In honor of Valentine's Day I created some Gothic Valentine Cards and some Gothic Apparel.

Nice and creepy and wicked, but nothing to get you slapped with a restraining order. Enjoy my fellow dark hearts!

Gothic Eve

A new artwork, dreadfully lovely and just for you. Was flipping through the channels one morning and came across a female televangelist. She was preaching about how having too much science and knowledge was wrong.

Really made me sick to my stomach. Knowledge is bad...hmmm...not in my book. Really scares me to think sheeple err I mean people are watching and believing things like this in this day an age.

But, it did inspire this new work of mine. It is my little take on the garden of Eden story. Rewritten with my perspective.

"My version, knowledge is good, Eve keeps the apple, Adam picks his own."

Lethal Libations Gothic Artwork

This is a recent gothic fantasy work of mine. Some days things just fall into place and this work was conceived, created and finished all in one day. Which is usually not the case. Most of my creations are in limbo for a good amount of time before coming to fruition.

What my inspiration was when working this piece was a mystical woman living outside of any conventional settlement. Creating spells and herbal medicines for those who have enough coin to pay.

Never fully accepted but always needed. Flirting with the light and the dark and hovering in between.

Do you trust her potions, is it a cure or a poison? It all depends on her mood that day.

Welcome to Dark Dreams Gothic Art

If there were no darkness, there would be no light. Everything must be in balance. Sometimes you have to be sad, otherwise you would not appreciate joy. That is the motivation behind The Dark Dreams Gothic Artwork of Marianne Gilliand.

You may not be surprised to hear Edgar Allen Poe was a relative of mine.
